Who We Are
The Ambassadors of Kindness is a group of individuals who meet on a regular basis to spread kindness throughout the community. We normally meet together once per month. We plan projects that we can do individually, ones that we can do together, and we also volunteer to assist other groups and organizations with their projects. The most important aspect is to have fun together while we serve the community.
How We Began
The Ambassadors of Kindness was inspired by the book Random Acts of Kindness published by Will Glenon and Conari Press. Patrick Andries, one of the founders of the School of Intuitive Arts and Sciences, had shared a spiritual retreat weekend with Mr. Glenon several years earlier. Upon discussing Mr. Glenon's experiences with creating the book and the flurry of activity that has followed it occurred to Patrick that many of the activities in the book are done by individuals. He realized that it would be fun to be able to come together in groups to do projects like these. One night in October of 2003, after a class that he was teaching, several students began talking about the national Make a Difference Day that is sponsored by the newspaper USA Today each year. There was a desire among those present to create some type of project for this event or join one that was already in motion. When the idea for the Ambassadors of Kindness was presented to Chrysa Beck and another student who wishes to remain anonymous, they were immediately interested. From that original group of Patrick Andries, Chrysa Beck, and the anonymous student the Ambassadors quickly began to grow.
